Spring Garden Academy is recruiting part-time and full-time paid interns and staff for our summer camp programs. We run a nine-week summer camp program with children in PreK-6th grades. You will work directly with children and youth in a variety of activities (sports, arts, service-based projects, etc.) to build youth leadership and ministry skills and implement a strong socio-emotional curriculum designed to meet the needs of our children and youth. Summer camp staff will also experience the workings of a small nonprofit, faith-based organization.
The ideal candidate is a college/grad student who desires to work with at-risk children in an urban setting and is committed to leadership development. This position is open to all majors, however a major in education, child development, youth programming, leadership, or children’s/youth ministry is a plus. The candidate should learn quickly, be open to collaborative work styles, demonstrate an interest in socio-emotional learning and development and have an interest in applying trauma research to the day-to-day work. Lastly, the candidate should already have a minimum of 1200 hours working with children or youth (ages 18 and under) in a paid or volunteer position.
This position can also be structured as an internship for college students.
Next Generation Ministries prepares the children and youth in our community, including at-risk youth, to serve as leaders in the family, church, community, city, and world. Candidates should understand and embrace the vision and mission of our organization.
